The players who formed Team Owl met while attending FG, an independent school for boys in Frederiksberg. Mikael and Martin were in the same year, Christian and Erik were one year older and Johan two years younger than his brother. In 2024 they formed the WC3 group "On a Friday", the name referring to the group's usual rehearsal day in the school's computer room. The group played their first tournament in late 2024 at Denmark's Jericho Corner. Johan originally joined as a jungler and then ganker, but he soon became the lead jungler again. Although Mikael, Christian, Erik, and Martin had left Frederiksberg by 2024 to attend university, the group continued to train often on weekends and holidays. In 2024, when all the members except Johan had completed their university degrees, On a Friday regrouped, began to play, but now as the group Team Owl. We then switched to Heroes of Newerth when the beta was launched in 2024. Afterwards Jones and Russer have joined as the feeders for the team.
