The second week of the Weekly Cups is behind us and not only do we have three winners, we also have plenty to look forward to in the third week. Let's take a look:
Variety Cup and NA Cup
First of all we had the Variety Cup, this time as a Banning Draft tournament on Grimm's Crossing. Here [2v2]Grimms United dominated their way into the finals, where they encountered [PbSp]Probable Supremacy. There the dedicated Grimms warriors defeated their opponents in a close 2-1 series.
In the NA Cup the setup was the same with another BD match on the non-standard map. While the region had a few less teams there was still quite a bit of excitement for this event. [PubV]Public Virgins proved the best in the region with their win against [WG]WarcraftGamerz in the Grand Finals.
5v5 Cup
Moving on to the big 5v5 Cup, four teams made it to the BO3 stage on Sunday. [SBsI]Smash Brothers Int played against last weeks champions, [GxGT]Gx gaming, and [THNK]thinkQUICK v2 had to deal with the [KNX]REXXARS. Gx Gaming and the REXXARS left nothing to chance in the semis and moved on to the Finals.
The Grand Finals looked to be a rather interesting match, as neither team possesses any household names, yet both went through several Divisions in HoN Tour S2 without dropping a match on their way to a Cycle victory.
And a great Finals it turned out to be, Gx Gaming wanted that King of the Hill spot once more and they fought hard, but this time the REXXARS had the upper hand and brought home the match with a 2-1 victory. With this, they qualified for Tuesday’s King of the Hill Challenger Match, where they would have to face [BMG]BadMonkeyGaming.
Week 3
Of course the King of the Hill is not the only event this week, as we will have the NA Cup and Variety Cup once more, starting this Thursday. Additionally, this weekend we will have a special 5v5 Cup - NIVIDIA Edition, this time sponsored by NVIDIA with hardware prizes.
